I have a client PC that has the K2 for Visual Studio component installed on it, and I want to add a target environment to the dropdown, when deploying a SmartObject solution. Do I just need to install K2 Blackpearl in the environment I am adding for the entry to show up in that dropdown, or are there specific steps that I need to do after I create the new K2 environment?

I will answer my own question, so that others can benefit from it. I found that you can add target environments via K2 Workspace, under the Management Console. This link has a whitepaper describes in full how to do it:
