I have a people control on a form that needs to be scoped to a specific group of people.  The site has a SharePoint group already created and there is a Distribution List inside of the group.  I entered the SharePoint group name into the field in control settings > advanced.  It appears that the control will only find individual users added to the group and it cannot find the individuals who are members of the DL inside the group.  Is this a known limitation of what the people control can access, or is there another way to go about this?

Thanks!

Brian

Hi Brian,

I'm sorry but I think this is a limitation given by SharePoint (if you try that also with forms not customized by Nintex, I'll see the same behaviour of a people picker group).

For similar context, I've always used a SharePoint Group with all the users directly inside it (but this means that I have to keep both membership updated)

Ah, ok.  Thanks for the info Giacomo!  I was hoping it would be able identify the individuals in the DL, similar to how the "check permissions" functionality works within SharePoint.  I agree with you and also prefer to add the individuals to the group instead of using DL's.  My client in this case preferred to use the DL for workflow approvers on this site because it is already managed and contains over 1000 users across an enterprise.  My approach for now will be to get the members of the DL in outlook and just add them to the group in SharePoint.  If anyone has other ideas of a way to use a people control that is scoped to members of a DL, I'd be interested in hearing them.

Thanks again,

Brian
