I have created a site workflow to set item permissions on list items that meet certain criteria. However when I run the workflow I get the above error message.
The name of the list that this workflow runs on starts with a full stop. Is this likely to be the cause of the error?

We are using Nintex 2010 Standard forms and workflows.

do you mean it starts with period (.) characters?
if so then this is not supported by sharepoint - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/905231/information-about-the-characters-that-you-cannot-use-in-site-names--fo
Thanks Marian. The full stop/period was the cause of the problem. It through me a bit though as some workflows that didn't contain Query List actions would run on the list.
However removing the full stop removed the error for me.
