Symptoms

Error when trying to directly access New Form template using URL configuration

Diagnoses

There was an issue found with a link that was configured to directly open a Form to submit a new item. This link was being used to circumvent the need to access the List and add a new item. When we tried to link this URL it was found that the error occurring was that "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage", this was also tried in Chrome and the issue was the same.

Resolution

After some investigation it was discovered that the Navigation Heading for the link wasn't correctly configured and when this was fixed the Form was accessible. The following information should give a clear idea of how to do this:

The first step in creating a direct link for direct form access is to access the site settings page and selecting Navigation from the Look and Feel section. Next you will need to find the Structural Navigation section and add a heading that will be used to access the form. The next step of the process is to utilize the URL of the form you are wanting to access this can be done by taking the runtime URL from the properties page of the form in K2 Designer or from the URL of the form as it is running. In the Navigation Heading popup window you will add the URL to the corresponding section note that when you are doing this you will need to modify the URL so that the address only contains the site information that is being used. For example if this form resides in a subsite the address should be modified to look like so:

/subsiteName/K2Pages/NewForm/…

After saving this you should now be able to use the link correctly without issue.
