Symptoms

Error un-installing K2 for SharePoint app on one specific site.
The Wizard fails at the Application stage. Same error reported on the Configure K2 Permissions page.

Root element is missing.

Diagnoses

When trying to uninstalling K2 via the wizard the error "Root Element missing" came up.

 

Resolution

There were few entries in the Integration.ProcessSharePointGeneralSetting and Integration.ProcessSharePointSettings referencing old site collection where attempting to run the uninstalling K2 app Wizard, it was failing with a "Root element is missing" error. Since there were no K2 artifacts in this particular site collection, we cleanup all the orphaned smartobject categories via the smartobject service tester and removed the rows from the 2 tables above. Then the K2 app was able to uninstall.
