Symptoms
Whenever the user followed a link to a Display item form contained within an email they received the following error:
Access denied. You do not have permission to perform this action or access this resource. Failed to initialize context URL: Your URL]

Resolution
The reason for this is that the user was being sent a link for a form that was pulling data from a list that the user did not have proper rights to within the context of sharepoint.
