Does an error during document generation still count as one used?

Hey Rick,

any conversion errors that happen inside your SharePoint farm won't affect the document generation limits. Usage is counted when the live service has been triggered and a generated document was sent back to your farm.

In my testing environment I had problems with connecting to the live service. Even after it was triggered it wasn't counted as a usage.

You were a bit to fast this time Frank Field‌ to mark this answer as correct  I wanted to do a few tests to really make sure and marking the answer as correct. I can now say that Enrico's answer is indeed correct.

I did the following positive tests:

1. Remove the template document before running the workflow 
2. Remove the output location before running the workflow 
3. Use non-allowed characters in the output file name 

In other words, in all cases, no document generation was consumed.
