Symptoms

Database consolidation tool hangs, final log entry shows:

1:0: FrmMain.TestHostserverConnection: 12:46:47:>> Create connection
1:0: FrmMain.TestHostserverConnection: 12:46:47:>> Open connection

Diagnoses

The database consolidation tool checks one last time for a connection on port 5555 at the IP address given for the K2 server. If a load balancer is present, it will respond on that port, and the database consolidation tool will not proceed as it believes the K2 server is running.

Resolution

In order to resolve the issue, the network load balancer must be taken offline to proceed with consolidation. In situations where this is not possible or not practical, a host file entry for the K2 server's address may temporarily be created to point "nowhere" and will allow the tool to proceed. Please note that if a host file entry is used, the user must ensure that all K2 servers are stopped manually, as the consolidation tool will cause unpredictable and unexpected results if the server is attempting to modify or read the DB during consolidation.
