How can we create reports based on a search for a user or for example the search is based on a given phone number.

Anything is possible - I hope!!

I would recommend to contact your local K2.net support office - maybe they can supply you with an example. I can obviously not promise anything but just maybe...

If I understand you correctly, it appears you are attempting to generate reports on business data.  All process/activity level data fields and XML are stored our tables in such a way that you cannot report on them in any normal way.
