Not 100% sure what you want, but you can look at escalations within the Activity and Events. Ie, you can use the escalations to trigger a reminder mail send to the destination users to remind them that there is a task on their list. If this is not what you are looking for please shed some light on the process and at which point you need to send a reminder.

I gather that you are using the Plan per slot no destinations option in the Advanced Dest rule?

thank you.  Yes the process must send an email reminder 6/3 months before due date to the users to remind them they have to update or complete their tasks. Only problem is that it is document lib and not a list.  I am using the Plan per slot no destinations option in the advanced Dest rule so when i go through the steps there is a step that asks "Select a list field to determine how many closts should be created " not sure what i should be choosing here.

The number of slots is equal to the number of Destinations needed. See the attached white paper on advanced dest rules, this should shed some light on the use of the dest rules.

As for the Notification you will still use the Escalations on Activity or Event level, where you will have to specify Email addresses of where the notification should be send.

Thanks much for your response but a silly qns does blackpoint work the same way as blank pearl?   since unfortunately i cannot have the users as  AD groups since they are individual people who cannot be sent a grp email and the way i need it is that once the first set of separate users for each separate doc gets the emails after the time period as described above 5 days after that whole entire activity is done a second set of seperate users need to get an email but this cannot be as a group it will be individual person for each doc.
