What version of smartforms are you using. I remember that when I was using 1.0.3 (I think), it used to lose all the validation settings when you checked it in. That has been ficed now though.

Just to confirm this is an known issue that occured in smartforms 103 and has been fixed in the versions afta that.  So with an upgraded version of smartform this issue would be resolved. :-)
