Symptoms

If a user changes a SmartObject property from "Number" to "Decimal" will there be any risk of losing data in that field upon conversion? The data is stored in the SmartBox.
 

Diagnoses

There should be no problem changing the type of smartobject Smartbox property if it is not set as a Key.
 

Resolution

The data stored in the SMO SmartBox table will not be deleted if the property get's changed from Number to Decimal. You can't change a property to key if it has data on it. It is recommended to create a SQL backup of the table.
