Symptoms

Change to different domain/url

Diagnoses

Our K2 installation is currently accessed in a browser on the address http://xxxx

I would like to switch this to using a FQDN - http://xxxxxx.xxx which will then enable me to use SSL with our existing wildcard certificate.

How do I change the URL which it sits on? Is this stored in the configuration of the application or shall I just update our DNS? I'll be looking to update it on HTTP and HTTPS

Resolution

You will need to create a DNS entry that resolves to the K2 server.
After this you will need to change upon the environment fields, the URL you will like to change (Workspace, Webservice and smartforms).
In regards to having a wildcard Certificate.

This should include anything that is on that particular domain, more importantly make sure that there is a DNS created for this as well as the necessary changes upon the environment fields and string tables (Best to be done through workspace .
After this you will need to restart the K2 Blackpearl service and perform an iis reset.
Furthermore and apply the certificate on the IIS bindings.

So in simple context execute the following....

1 - DNS record created: xxxx.xxx
2 - Change url for the desired one on K2 site IIS
3 - Change the respective environment field on workspace
4 - Change the respective string table value on workspace
5 - Restart K2 Blackpearl service
6- IIS reset

In regards to updating it on HTTP and HTTP’s, assuming you have two bindings for the same site and if that is the case then will be more than one entry on the environment fields for more than one site. This would have be changed for both sets of environment fields too.
