Before I ask that question, I will ask this one: Is there an appropriate forum to ask questions about the forums? Stack Exchange has a META subforum for their forums, to ask questions about the forum itself, like "is this an appropriate question?" or "which is the best forum to ask about xxx?"

I would rather ask in a central forum just for these type of questions.

OK, now my question. If I solved a problem myself and want to share it, what is the best way to mark it as the solution? Do I need to post the question, then answer it and mark the reply as the correct answer? Can I just mark the original post as the answer (asking because I already checked and I cannot)?

What is the best practice here?

@CigarDoug only replies can be marked as accepted solutions.  So you would need to post the question, reply to that post with the answer and then mark that reply as an Accepted Solution.
