To answer your question the wizards to convert Word to a PDF format is dependent on Word Automation Services, which isn't available in SharePoint online. This means that this isn't a limitation of Appit because it is dependent on Microsoft in this case; if at any point Microsoft makes this a functionality to SharePoint online it will most likely be available for use.
