Using the standard Word/Excel API s is a possibility, however we have a component that is currently under development that can perform this. This will be in the form of an event template that will be wizard driven as with the other events in K2.net. I do not have specifics on the availability yet but will definitely posts more info as soon as I know. Keep an eye on http://portal.k2workflow.com/downloads/product.aspx

You will have to add a reference to the K2ROM object model to your Word/Excel files. Add a 'Submit' button in which you can do validation of user input values. Open a Connection to the K2Server and use the CreateProcessInstance and StartProcessInstance methods to physically start a new K2.net 2003 workflow process. In between the CreateProcessInstance and StartProcessInstance calls, you can populate your process datafields and set the Process Folio. Please refer to the Help file for more information.
