Symptoms

The report server cannot process the report or shared dataset. The shared data source 'SmartObjects' for the report server or SharePoint site is not valid. Browse to the server or site and select a shared data source


 

Diagnoses

We determined that there seemed to be no SOURCECODE source type selectable in the report builder.

We also were able to get the following error when running Out of the box reports:

An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot create a connection to the data source 'SOURCECODE'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)
No such host is known
 

Resolution

So we ran the following steps:

• Opened the http://{Company Name}/Reports URL
• Clicked on 'Site Settings' top right
• Added the K2 Service account and install account to have full rights (Administrative)
• Repair K2 Server with install accounts

This then re added the dll to the correct location.
