After upgrading to Smartforms 4.6.9, Smartforms Viewer Webpart does not load form
 

Diagnoses

After upgrading to 4.6.9, Smartforms no longer loads in the Smartforms Webpart in Sharepoint 2010 and IE10 this was due to the fact that starting with Smartforms 4.6.9, IE8/IE8 Mode is no longer supported as per:

Setting the meta tag to "IE=9" document mode:



does allow the Smartforms to load in the webpart successfully, but results in the Sharepoint people picker not working correctly (because Sharepoint only seem to be compatible with IE8 doc mode):

Resolution

A Smartforms roll-up patch was provided to the customer that will result in the change of behavior below:

The web part now validates the document mode, if its IE8 – it will state “Your Browser’s Compatibility mode is not supported” with a click here link which will open the form in a new tab using higher document mode.

If the compatibility mode is IE9 > it will render in the SF viewer web part.
