"Error loading fields, contact your system administrator"

Has anyone ever seen this error on manually starting a workflow from a doc library?


Workflow has not even started yet. 


Verified that the current user has rights to Admin, Start, View the process.

You might want to run the blackpoint server in console mode (i.e. log as the service account, stop the K2 blackpoint service and start the console from All Programs > K2 blackpoint > K2 blackpoint server.  Try starting the workflow again and see if there is any activity in the console.  Specifically check what credentials is being used to connect to the server (in case this is a distributed installation and you are having some kerberos delegation issue).

some time before i also faced this issue..but that was because of user not having enough rights.

We had the same problem. It turned out to be a problem with the name of the document library. Once you create the document library you can not change its name. If you do, you will get the mentioned error.
