Hye experts,

Currently i'm playing around with k2 blackpearl (without sharepoint integration) to have a view what k2 blackpearl is all about and how we can adapt it to our environment here. Currently, we are using .net as our platform. and we are considering to move to K2 blackpearl.

what i can say is k2 blackpearl is good to automate the workflow process. but i have to say that our environment is practicing a quite complicated workflow in an application. i.e. sometimes an approval level would need different people based on the condition and it consists of several approval levels.                                                                                                                                              1) can k2 blackpearl cater this?

from my findings, k2 blackpearl is integrating with sharepoint which last time is integrating with moss.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             2) is there any possibilities that k2 blackpearl will come out with a new integration/versions?

3) can anyone tell me the pros and the cons of k2 blackpearl over asp.net or any suggestions on it?

I really hope that someone can help or convince me on this k2 blackpearl. really need help from the experts. Thank you.

Hope I understand your questions correctly, please see
the following;

1) Can K2 blackpearl cater this? From my findings, K2 blackpearl is integrating with SharePoint
which last time is integrating with moss.

K2 blackpearl can support simple, complex and dynamic
approval levels.

> When the process starts, it will do an initial
approval and then decide if additional approvals are needed ("Route
approval to next approval step" activity) or to continue ("End"
in this example). The key here is to have a counter that checks how many
approvals have been completed vs. how many are required and then loop back if
more approvals are needed, using the relevant line rules.

Even complex rules can be accomplished without code using
our out-of-the-box wizards and K2 SmartObjects. If the approval level rules are
too complex, then code is available to develop custom approval levels. Prebuilt
wizards and templates allow rapid configuration.

> Applications can be surfaced through Web browsers,
custom thick-client applications, SharePoint or through

Office tools like Outlook and Word.

> Processes can be initiated manually or as a result
of events.

> A user’s tasks can be aggregated across processes
into a single work list.

> Take action on a single task or in a batch.

> Intuitive tools give business and technical users
the ability to start with simple solutions and extend and adapt as business
needs dictate.

2) Is there any possibilities that K2 blackpearl will
come out with a new integration/versions?

K2 blackpearl already includes support for WSS 3.0,
MOSS2007, SharePoint Foundation 2010, and SharePoint Server 2010

3) Can anyone tell me the pros and the cons of K2
blackpearl over asp.net or any suggestions on it?

K2 blackpearl cannot be compared to ASP.net since ASP.NET
is a UI technology and blackpearl is a BPM platform. We do however integrate
with ASP.NET as a forms technology for process-driven applications.

Kind regards,

Brink
