Installing new version on server with previous k2 installed problem


Today i uninstalled version 4.7 from a server in order to perform and make a guide to a customer on a full instalation from scratch for version 5.2.

 

I followed the steps of the following guide on how to uninstall (including all manual cleaning and verification):

After deleting everything i downloaded the K2 5.2 installer in order to install the new version. However when i run the Setup.exe it goes to the "Upgrade current version", and when I go to the next step I only have "K2 for visual studio" available. Therefore I assume this has not been uninstalled correctly.

 

I've spent all day trying to find any register related to K2, even uninstalled Visual Studio. However i haven't been sucessfull.

 

I already opened a ticket in K2 and will update if the problem is solved. In the meantime, anyone has any ideas?

Hello ricardo-gfi,

 

I had a situation were i had to install K2 Five(5.2) from 4.7 but i didn't uninstall K2 4.7 instead I upgraded from K2 4.7 to K2 Five(5.2).If you still have K2 4.7 I would suggest you install it again then do an upgrade to K2 Five.

Hi Ricardo

 

To find register files that might be tempering with k2 Five Intallation, What happen is everytime when you install a software it create files or xml files and if you didnt to proper unistall those files remains on the machine.

 

Follow the steps below to delete those files before you install k2 five (you must be administrator )

Step1: Go to control panel, "view by" Large icon,

Step2: Click "File Explorer Options" ,click "view" at the top,check "show hidden files,folders and drives" click apply & ok

(all folders and xml files hidden by a system will be exposed)

Step3:Go to C:// drives, delete any folder written k2 under inetpub,Program Files(x86),ProgramData,Resources.

Step4: Check if you can install k2 Five 

 

note: Sometimes on the control panel when you unistall k2 the system comes with a message asking you if you want to delete and if you say yes, that is not uninstall, you deleted k2 on the control panel and it is still available on the system, that why your machine want to upgrade.

Hi

 

The best way to unistall k2 blackpearl is through the setup manager, You run k2 setup and where it says configuration under k2 blackpearl setup manage you select remove.
