Topic
A new unlocker version was released on February 7, 2024, version 17.15 and then another one on August 21, 2024, version 17.16. These new unlocker builds do not need RPA Bot to be run as an Administrator and they do not need the UAC settings turned off. If upgrading from the v16.5.1 unlocker to one of the new ones, please take note that the settings of the old unlocker will need to be changed.
Instructions
One of the biggest implications of the new Unlocker versions and RPA Bot is that UAC can be left ON and at the highest level, which is what all IT Admins want for security. But because we always told everyone in the past to both turn OFF UAC and Run as Admin, if they now turn ON the UAC, they MUST also NOT run Bot as Admin.
The only time you get that UAC prompt is when you have both UAC ON and Running an app as Admin. This is because Windows detects you are attempting to Run with elevated permissions (ie Admin) and knows it can be very dangerous so it will prompt you with the UAC warning that you have to click to go away. That UAC prompt will prevent the Bot from starting in the VM.
