env : Nintex Workflow 2019 for SharePoint 2019
my workflows stucks at “Start Workflow” action after sharepoint update. this only occurs if “Wait for the workflow to complete before continuing” option is selected.
child workflow works and completes well. but parent’s workflow details page (img below) Start workflow action is stuck incomplete.

Just to let you know, you advised that SharePoint has been updated. Some updates affect SharePoint’s workflow engine, which Nintex also uses.
Solved after removing everything inside owstimer.exe.config <System.Workflow.ComponenModel.WorkflowCompiler> tag.
