I have a list with several SP groups who have contribute access. When an item is created or modified, I have a workflow that breaks permissions and resets item permissions. I am getting a workflow error: Error setting item permissions. Access to item 'ITEM NAME' in list 'LIST NAME' on site 'SITE NAME' is denied. The weird thing is that the error is not in reference to the created/modified item, it's referencing a totally different item, and it's always the same item. Any ideas? Hope this makes sense.

+1+1I just cancelled and re-ran the workflow and it completes without errors. There's not much to the workflow, just checks a column=choice and then sets the item permissions.

Do the users running the workflow have read access to the root site (not http://www.thesite.com/sites/thisSite but instead http://www.thesite.com/)?
