In the old forum I came across a write up to put #1# in the Process' metabase for it to work, but I found that without it the archive component still archived the processes, and K2 Support doesn't have info on the #1# metabase. Can someone elaborate this if you wrote it up? Thanks.

I can't say that I remember the post or who wrote it up but...
If I remember correctly, the #1# metadata value is specific to the Process Migration tool and has got nothing to do with the archiving component. The Process Migration tool was developed to fulfill a very specific need of moving running process instances (not definitions) to other servers.
