Error "Failed to send message. Cannot get the full name or e-mail address of user"

ISSUE
When sending an email notification, the workflow might fail with the following error: 

Failed to send message. Cannot get the full name or e-mail address of user "<username here>".
ERROR CODE
RESOLUTION
  • Ensure that the username is in Active Directory and that the user account has a valid email address configured.
  • Ensure that the AD account is enabled. 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The workflow engine is unable to find that username in Active Directory, or the user account does not have a valid email address configured, or the AD account is disabled.
