When are emails sent for Checklist Activities?

Emails for checklist activities are sent when the activity is the next activity to be signed off and it has been assigned to a user. Once the previous activity has been signed off an email will be sent for the next activity.
If the same user that created the checklist, assigned users or signed off the previous activity is the user that would receive an email, no email will be received.
