"The User Manager returned an empty queue..."

This article was created in response to a support issue logged with K2. The content may include typographical errors and may be revised at any time without notice. This article is not considered official documentation for K2 software and is provided "as is" with no warranties.


When starting a new instance of your Workflow, you notice the following error:

"An activity with a client event should at least have one destination."



Upon further investigation, you notice the following:

  • The relevant Role is not empty, and has valid members.
  • You notice the following error in your Hostserver Log files: "24148 The User Manager returned an empty queue with name [RoleName]."
  • Looking at the following table in your K2 Database, [Server].[DestQueue], you notice the Role(s) has "Workflows" values under the Data column:




This is a known issue, the development team are looking into fixing this in the Product at a later stage.

However, there is a way to resolve it. Please contact K2 Support, and reference this KB article.
