Outbound SMTP Server in Nintex Global Settings - Can I use an IP Address?

We've been running Nintex Workflow for years with the outbound SMTP being a URL (example.ourdomain.com). We use NW2013 internally only. Our Windows admin provided a new server name and IP Address which I confirmed works because I can ping the DNS name and get the IP Address back. I entered this new static IP Address in theĀ Outbound SMTP Server field in CA-->Nintex WF Mgmt-->Global Settings, restarted IIS, and no mail is getting sent. Does it have to be a URL in that field or should the IP Address work?

Oh for pete's sake... the answer is YES. I spaced it... I have all emails from SharePoint/Nintex Workflow redirected with an Outlook rule... it was working all the time.

I'm leaving this brilliant move on my part in this forum instead of deleting it, in case anyone else searches the question.
