Using Nintex Workflows with Custom Forms triggering workflow actions

I am using SharePoint 2010 and Nintex workflow 2010.

I have created a nintex workflow with a request data element in it. Rather than use the built in interface to create my application, my group is using angular js as a front end to create our forms and JSOM to update the lists. I am having problems updating the Workflow Task list to trigger the workflow to continue with the request data element. I can set the data that is being requested but am unsure what other fields in the Workflow Task list are required to get the workflow to continue.

I figure this can probably be done since with the approve / reject items I can set the Decision column in the Workflow Task list to 0 or 1 to get it to approve or reject and then move on. I believe there is a complete column that is also being set to true. I was hoping there is something like this with the request data element, but haven't found it so far.
