I have a Nintex form that currently had three text fields. I have been given a requirement that of the three fields at least one of them must be populated. How would I set up validation for this?
Under runtime functions you'll find the isNullOrEmpty() function so your rule will look like this after you use the Named Control tab to insert your references inside of these functions - just select all three controls and click add rule of type validation, then enter the following rule - the following rule means that if all three are empty then it becomes invalid so this will work for you as long as one or more gets a value:
isNullOrEmpty(ServiceProTicket) && isNullOrEmpty(STATticket) && isNullOrEmpty(ServiceManagerTicket)
I would need more detail to help you specifically, but you can easily use Form Validation rules to accomplish this. Essentially you are going to write a rule that checks that at least one of them is not null or empty and have the rule exist on each of the three text boxes.
That's exactly what I am attempting to do. I just don't seem to be able to get the syntax correct. I have three fields names as follows:
I've fooled around with arrays, OR statements, etc. and I still cant seem to get it to work correctly. If I leave all 3 fields blank the rule just ignores them.
Thanks for your help. It doesn't look like anything I put into the formula will help because the formula itself is not running. Is there a way to check to see if its actually attempting validation?
I have attached a screenshot illustrating our current state.
I think I see the problem: you are using Item Properties instead of Named Controls. When inserting your references, be sure to select from the Named Controls tab and not the Item Properties.
Here is a reference to validation rules that should help as well: Using validation rules to ensure a comments box is not left empty
