If I terminate a workflow the approver will receive an e-mail that the Workflow has been terminated. Is it possible to switch that off or to modify that notification ?
You can adjust the 'Approval no longer required' notification email in both Central Administration and in the Site Collection Settings, depending on the scope you need.
CA: Central Administration > Nintex Workflow Management > Message Templates
Site Collection: Site Settings > Nintex Workflow Management > Message Templates
Is that what you're after?
The actual workflow cancellation/error notifications are fixed and can't be adjusted, however they can be turned off (Nintex Workflow Management > Workflow Error & Cancellation Notification...) but note that this applies to all users/workflows that fall under the scope of the change (Farm or Site Collection level.)
