How do I show a users display name (not login name) in a calc column

I'm using Nintex forms 2013, on prem version. I need to show the initial user (display name) who submits/creates the form in a calc column (function not to update) along with their manager (as display name) in another calc column. Again function not to update.

I want to do this so when the manager does log on I can validate his name (in a field that updates each time) against the static manager field first set on form submit and have approved areas become available.

Can someone please tell me how to set the calc fields as display names and do the above. Thanks.
