Need help getting the parent folder ID for an item
Here's what you can do:
Get the folder name by stripping the prefix and suffix, then query for an item with this
Could you please explain further? Do you need the name of the folder that the item/document resides in? I'm not sure what you mean by the ID. Could the path of the item help in this case?
Thanks for responding. I am trying to capture the parent folder ID/path of each item in the library, so that I can pass all the metadata from the parent folder to the items within the folder (the folder metadata is updated through a task sent to an end user, the task is created when a daily site workflow kicks off and captures any folder not yet updated, (more info: the folders are created when user emails the contents to the library)). Instead of assigning a task per item to the team, I wanted to send out one task for the folder level and then update on the items within the folder once the data was available.
I have tried numerous options, but no luck.
Let me know if you need further explanation.
