Moving databases to a new server

We attempted to move databases to a new server, however we had issues, the workflow errored stating it couldn't find the Nintex Workflow Config Database.

 

I went into Central Admin-->when I selected the Nintex Workflow Management Screen, I attempted to edit the database adding the new server name and connecting to an existing database, however nothing changed, I just kept getting errors stating it couldn't find the database.

We have now rolled back the database move. Is there anything I need to be mindful of when moving databases to a new server that would have caused this?
