This article was created in response to a support issue logged with K2. The content may include typographical errors and may be revised at any time without notice. This article is not considered official documentation for K2 software and is provided "as is" with no warranties.

Issue

This happens when you run a K2 workflow that creates a new folder in a SharePoint Document Library based on some input from a K2 Form or View.

When the name contains both # and " characters then the workflow runs into the following error:

Service: customer_sharepoint_com___sites___sitename Severity: Error Error Message: File Not Found.

When the name contains only the " character, then the workflow runs into this error:

Service: customer_sharepoint_com___sites___sitename Severity: Error Error Message: The file or folder name contains characters that are not permitted. Please use a different name.

Symptoms

This is expected, according to the following KBT:
Special Characters not allowed in K2 Artifact Names - http://help.k2.com/kb000299

Resolution

In both instances (with " or # characters) it will result in the same issue. The SharePoint Folder cannot be created with those special characters. Before starting the K2 Workflow, you should validate the input fields on the Form or View, and make sure those special characters are not used.
