Issue

The Export to Excel rule does not save the Excel file for a list view.

Symptoms

A form with multiple tabs is used to host several list views on different tabs. Most of the list views will save an excel file when the rule is fired on a button click rule. However, one view does not bring up the file save action and seems to be failing silently.

Resolution

On the list views affected, there are empty columns added on the list control. After removing these empty columns from the list control the Export to Excel rule was able to fire and raise the save file action which resolved the issue.
