Nintex workflow 2013 running on prem.
I have a list workflow in a SharePoint document library.
The workflow is triggered when an item is modified and uses the „Copy to File Share“ action to copy the file to a file share. This works fine when starting 1-5 concurrent instances. However, if I update properties on several (more than 5) documents at once using the quick edit view I always end up with one or more instances in error state.
The „Copy to file share“ workflow action returns error messages:
„An unexpected network error occurred.“
„Error Code: (1219) Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again.“
I noticed that I do not get the network errors if I put a „Pause For..“ workflow action before the „Copy to file share“.
Pausing all instances for several minutes is not an option for my scenario.
Does anyone have an alternative solution?

I am seeing this exact same error occasionally with Nintex Workflow 2010 / SharePoint 2010 and have not found a solution yet.
One of the things recommended in doing is adding a Pause for action at the beginning of your workflow. Mine is set to pause for 1 minute. Doing this will ensure that SharePoint has initialized the item and therefore preventing the workflow to fail. Once I added the Pause for piece at the beginning of the workflow mine hasn't failed.
Thanks, I had a similar thought and was just working on adding a pause. I am also adding an Execute SQL action before the Pause action to generate a random number between 0 and 3. I will then use that random number for the pause duration. That way if 10 instances of the workflow kick off at once it should spread them out a bit and hopefully prevent those errors.
If a static 1 minute pause works that is even better. I will test it both ways and see what works.
