We are currently investigating to which extent Nintex doc gen is capable of replicating functionality that is provided by Muhimbi.... we have a very specific requirement which is:
When a new item is created in a SharePoint Online list (including attachment), we want to add the list item data into the attachment.
With Muhimbi we were able to do this in 2 steps:
1. Create a separate PDF with the list item data
2. Merge this PDF with the list item attachment
Is there a similar functionality available with Nintex?
A nintex solution would be preferrable for us if it is able to do the same...
Thanks in advance!
Unfortunately the Document Generation action at this stage cannot update an attachment file on a newly created item. The Document Generaton action allows you to create a document template where you can set tags for SharePoint field data to be inserted and a document generated. The Document Generation action needs to reference an existing template and the template needs to be tagged in advance in order for SharePoint field data to be inserted into the referenced document.
So what if we created a document template that has fields for each of the SharePoint list item data we want to include (e.g. 'Approver name', 'Approval date')...
Then when a new SPO list item is added, a workflow triggers, and generates a new document from this template - which will then populate based upon the list item data.
Second we then merge this document with the list item attachment.
Just wanting to double check that this really is not possible
