We have a process called XXX but now we want to change it to say YYY and affect all inflight and historical items.
Has anyone changed the process name in the database?

It doesn't appear as if that value (process name) is really tied to anything else in K2, I would think that would work ok

Why do you want to change it in the database? I have not tested it, but you might break the reports.
As per your requirement, change the process name to YYY in the designer tool and redeploy. This will ensure all old instances continue to run along with new instances.
