I have followed through the walkthrough for setting up InfoPath forms within the K2.NET 2003 Dev Library.
However when I test the form by selecting Start Process from the project start (Part 6, Step 1) the InfoPath taskpane does not appear.

It appears that the InfoPath document was probably not successfully edited during the execution of the InfoPath Process wizard. It is recommended that you close all instances of InfoPath after publishing to SharePoint to avoid having documents locked as read-only.
Resolution:
You may try updating the InfoPath document template (published to the document library in SPS) manually using K2.net Studio. In the process's general properties, under "InfoPath Document Actions", select the "Refresh Document" option. This action causes K2.net Studio to update the InfoPath document with the correct parameters and task pane.
