Edit a Document from a SharePoint-Library

Hello Community,

like you can see in the Title, I would like to edit a document which is stored in a SharePoint-Library but I don't know how.

Scenario:

We have a Document-Approval Workflow and the last Approver have to assign a Document-Number to the Document.

Is it possible to open the Document in an Edit-Mode via the Form?

But unfortunately, this will not fix my problem

The user has to open the Document, Edit it and save the new Version to the Document Library.

I thought about something like Button-Click -> Open the Document -> Edit -> Save back to the Library.

Something like this.

Is this possible?
