Ignore the K2 Designer parts, the SmartObject are built in SmartObjects - Services Tester

While this video does use SQL, there are a lot of good points in the video. 

The video specifially talks about SmartObject - Services - Tester at 7:50

3) K2 SmartObjects - Fundamentals

This is an overview of SmartObjects, Creating SmartObjects begins on page 22. K2 Studio SmartObjects are created on page 24. 

4)  K2 SmartObjects - Intermediate

The first lab of the intermediate course explains how to create a Service Instance with SQL, I am sure you can do something similar to interact with Oracle. The labs do go through creating a composit smartobject in K2 Designer, but you can build a composit SmartObject in K2 Studio.

If you go into the Core course, you can find material on building SmartObjects in K2 Studio in Part 2 of the course named 100.EDI. This section assumes the student has built out the labs up to this point, however, you may be able to read through it or watch the video to figure out what you need to do.
