Our workflow attaches multiple (potentially) large documents to an email that could exceed the SMTP message size limit. We have already increased this limit once. I am exploring ways of attaching compressed documents to reduce the message size so we can avoid increasing the limit again.
I have tested the workflow with a compressed file (uploaded into a SharePoint library and attached from here) but whereas the zip file is attached in the email, it is empty and so cannot be extracted.
Has anyone had experience with compressing files within a workflow? Either:
- compressing and attaching the document within the workflow or
- attaching an already zipped file to an email witihn the workflow
Any general tips for methods to reduce the mail size would be appreciated.
