Hello all!
As we know, it’s not possible to use Nintex Forms for customization of SharePoint document set’s forms. Anyway, I am trying to find a workaround for this restriction in our project. At the moment, I have the only one idea and I am going to ask you, the community of professionals, is it OK to work on its implementation further or not. The point is that I am a novice in Nintex Forms and that’s why I need your help to discover possible issues.
The idea is to get rid of document sets by splitting the solution into two parts: a custom list that mimics document sets and a custom library that stores our files. I added lookup column to the library to link each file to “document set” in the list. After that, I created a form using Nintext Forms in the list. I used filtered List View control to display linked files. Also, the form is configured to hide linked files in New Item mode, so files are available only in Display and Update modes.
(Title, Status, and Done are the columns of the Sets list, of course)
I see several issues/questios here:
And in general, what do you think about this approach? I appreciate any ideas from you.

Not sure if you did a search after landing inside the community, but here are some related threads:
Do Nintex Forms work with Document Sets?
Hello, Frank!
Of course, I did. Moreover, the first link from you list is in my original message. The other two ones are about Nintex Workflows, not Forms.
Alisher Abdurakhmanov in case you haven't seen this yet, Euan Gamble has posted on similar threads:
"I am pleased to say that we are currently looking into Document Sets (New/Edit) page. It requires a fair amount of investigation and testing as its not a standard list item form but will keep User Voice updated as we progress."
Guess I should slow down when speeding through posts. :-)
Thank you for the information, Cassy! Good news, definitely. As I can see, the issue with support Document Sets in Nintex Forms is a really long story.
Unfortunately, I need a solution for my current project so I have no time to wait.
We are currently working on support for classic or responsive forms for the ‘New/Edit page’ (NewDocSet.aspx) of the Document Set content type and not the ‘Welcome Page’ (docsethomepage.aspx) of a Document Set.
Are you trying to customise the 'New/Edit page' or the 'Welcome Page'?
Cheers,
Euan
Hello, Euan Gamble!
Thank you very much for your response. I really appreciate efforts of your team.
I am talking about New (NewDocSet.aspx application page), Edit (EditForm.aspx page), and Display (DispForm.aspx page) forms of Document Set. Could you please tell when the release of Nintex Forms with support of Document Sets is planned to be published?
Concerning Welcome Page, it’s out of scope of the project at the moment.
Euan Gamble, in addition to the question about release date of the new version of Nintex Forms, there are a couple of questions about editions and upgrades.
Looking forward to your answers.
Thank you in advance.
Alisher
I cant give a release date as yet as we have not complete development. The release date is dependant on the development and testing being completed. All I can say is that it is in active development at the moment.
I can confirm that the feature will be a standard feature available to all customers with an active support agreement and access to the downloads page.
Cheers,
Euan
