How to fetch the current user's name?

Jump to solution

I want to set permissions on the SharePoint 2013 list. For that I want to know who is the current user and set its name in the workflow variable. Please tell me how to do it?

Hi,

if current user is the user who has started the workflow, you already have that information in the Common Reference, as the Initiator

He may be or may not be the one who started the workflow. Although, chances of him not being the initiator are high.

If it's not the initiator, who is the "current user"? Is it the user who is assigned to a task?

Hi Giacomo,

Current user is actually initiator. Sorry for the previous reply.

I currently have a task assigned to a group of users. I wanted to record in a field the user who closed the task. How can I do that. When i set the default value of the field in the task form as current user login id, (as i do in the initiation form) it doesn't read. while it works in the initiation form

It is assigned to a group so whoever is available would finish it.

can you please help?
