Create SMO for K2 and external data?

I'm using a custom web app to call K2 workflows, and then a given user's worklist will be available from the custom web app using the Worklist Service Broker. What is the best way to create a SMO that contains K2 data, like serial number, process instance ID and folio name, as well as data from the Web app? I'm guessing I have to send the web app data I want into K2 as data fields, I've also seen the Association Details in K2 Studio that allows me to create Workflow SMOs and I'm wondering what the cleanest option is?

I think you are on the right track. I would look at creating your workflow smartobject and then creating a composite smartobject combining the workflow smartobject with your business data smartobject.

 

Have a look at the blackpearl core course for an example of this being implemented.
