When creating a new service instance for SharePoint 2013 there are required fields for throttling document and list items that may be returned by a SmartObject query.  Shown here:

SharePoint has its own setting for the number of items that can be returned by a view.

What happens when K2 Settings is higher? Dies the Sharepoint Settings take precedence or does K2's setting override?

SharePoint will always be precedence over any K2 Threshold Setting:

Example:

A list is created with 2001 Items with a Web Application throttling set to 2000 List Items

SharePoint will allow the user to Add the exceeding number Specified, but will be unable to use in retrieving the number of List Items (ie, in a  Lookup)

using K2  for example allows Threshold of 2050 List Items

SharePoint will still precedence over any K2 Threshold Setting with Error Shown during Runtime
