I have a workflow that sends a task to multiple individuals listed in a people picker field of a list. When it creates the task, it sends separate tasks to all the individuals and they are unable to see who else has received the same task. I do not have the box checked that says "Send individual tasks to group members". If that is not checked, shouldn't the workflow send it to everyone? How do I get the workflow to do this?

If "Create individual tasks to groups members" in not checked, only one task item is created in the Workflow Tasks list and it is applicable only if the list of approvers are is a "user group". Since you are sending to multiple persons from people picker filed of your list, a separate task item is created and each person get a individual email notification about the task.
If you want to have only one task item created and want to send a email notification to all approvers, you have to use a "user group" in the approvers list.
you can pout 'Assigned To" list into notification body if you just want all the assigners see each other.
