How do I copy an item to a list and link back to item

Jump to solution

I set up a workflow that copies the Title of the item from "list A" over to "list B" when a new item is submitted in "List A." How do I also add a link, to list B, back item in list A (in the form of a URL or otherwise)?

Hi Anna,

Add a field in list B - RefID. Populate this with the ID of item from list A.

In list B you can create a calculated column to prepare link to the item in list A.

="<a href='http://site/listA/display.aspx?ID="&RefID&"'>Click Here</a>"

Return this as a number. Hope it helps.

Thanks, Kapil.

Ok - so I'm a little new to Nintex. How do I copy ID in list A to RefID? I'm using copy item, but I think I'm doing something wrong.

Sorry Anna,

I misread. I thought you were using Create Item action. Can you use it? You will have to specify the value of each field in the list B. This action gives you an option to get the ID of the newly created item in list B. Let us know if it doesn't work.
